Coordinator

Jillian Shifflett is an Education Coordinator with the Virginia Department of Education’s Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) at James Madison University. Her focus is primarily on special education program improvement by providing professional development and support designed to assist schools in addressing accountability and improvement goals for students with disabilities. Jillian’s main projects are improving inclusive practices, professional team collaboration, and co-teaching. Prior to joining TTAC, Jillian was a secondary special education teacher, student study chair, and department chair.  Jillian has provided direct instruction, worked in inclusive settings through co-teaching, and served as a mentor for practicum students, student teachers, and new teachers. Jillian holds a bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation, a master’s degree in curriculum & instruction, and most recently completed the Educational Leadership Certificate Program at James Madison University. She holds a Virginia license in specific learning disabilities, K-12
